Evaluation of community knowledge and awareness of Leptospirosis among households, farmers and livestock keepers in Unguja, Zanzibar

Little is known of the leptospirosis in Zanzibar. This study aims to assess level knowledge and awareness among urban peri-urban communities Unguja. A cross-sectional was conducted utilizing semi-structured questionnaires from January April 2022. Two hundred respondents were randomly selected (130 males 70 females) aged between 18 89 years). Descriptive analysis performed determine main trends awareness, while χ2 identify associations demographic characteristics with respondents’ awareness. The majority (64%) not aware theetiology leptospirosis. However, a high percentage had favorable attitude (68.6%) towards compared (35%) practices (29.3%). there low livestockkeeper, farmers, fishermen health care providers. findings also demonstrated that strong association occupational physical activities, educational associated preventive practices.
